A truss chord splice connects a deeper wide-flange member and a shallower wide-flange member at a centerline splice. The connection utilizes vertical splice fins designed to bear per AISC standards, secured with bolts positioned with typical two-inch clearances from the chord centerline. A two-foot-long cover plate matching the grade and width of the smaller flange truss chord is added on the underside, with a thickness matching the web or plate thickness plus one-quarter inch. The cover plate is omitted when the plate thickness is less than one-quarter inch.
