A concrete topping is placed over a metal deck supported by a wide-flange beam sized per plan. Headed shear studs are welded through the metal deck to the top flange of the beam. Welded wire reinforcement is placed at the centerline of the concrete topping at mid-span. Additional reinforcement consists of three-foot-long number three bars spaced at one foot six inches on center centered over the girder, supported by two number three chair bars with three-quarters of an inch clearance. A fluted profile deck closure plate is provided at the high flutes.
