A steel braced frame connection with the column web parallel to the framing members includes a column capped with a 1-1/4 inch plate and tied to steel beams and metal deck sized per plan. A C10x25 channel segment measuring 1 foot 0 inches long serves as a connection element, secured with two 3/4-inch diameter erection bolts and backed by a 3/8 by 4-inch by 1 foot 4-inch plate with two 3/4-inch diameter erection bolts. Two 3/4-inch thick stiffener plates are located in typical pairs. Complete joint penetration welds and 5/16-inch fillet welds on three sides join the structural steel components together.
