A three-inch hollow structural section post connects to a horizontal hollow structural section girt using paired structural steel angles. Two three-by-three by one-quarter inch angles secure the top of the post to the girt with quarter-inch fillet welds on three sides. Two six-by-four by three-eighths inch long-leg vertical angles secure the bottom of the post, extended to overlap a minimum of four inches when the post is eccentric from the girt. A three-quarter-inch diameter through-bolt passes through three-inch vertically slotted holes in the angle, finger tightened with the nut tack-welded to the bolt. Quarter-inch fillet welds with three-inch returns on both sides join the components.
