This assembly provides a slip connection for a hollow structural section post at a floor level, allowing for vertical movement. The connection utilizes two L3x3x1/4 angles, one on each side of the hollow structural section, secured with a single 3/4 inch diameter thru-bolt. The bolt is installed through 1 1/2 inch vertically slotted holes to accommodate differential movement, with the bolt finger-tightened. A 5/16 inch stiffener plate is centered on the wind girt brace, which is welded to the top flange of the adjacent steel beam with a 1/4 inch fillet weld. An L3x3x1/4 kicker brace connects to the top flange of the adjacent beam to provide lateral stability.
