A hollow structural section beam frames into the web of a wide flange beam with a maximum one-half inch clearance. Three-eighths-inch plates are welded to each side of the hollow structural section beam. The hollow structural section beam is coped as required per plan. One-quarter-inch fillet welds secure the connection on three sides.
