A one inch thick polyfoam isolation joint wraps entirely around the column to separate it from the surrounding slab on grade. Two number three diagonal reinforcing bars four feet long are centered on each corner of the column within the slab. The top half inch of the polyfoam is removed after twenty-eight day concrete strength is reached and filled with sealant per architectural drawings.
