Connection of a grade beam type 1 to an existing concrete footing. An existing column is located beyond and referenced to the structural plan, intersecting at the grid line. Epoxy dowels are anchored into the existing footing to match the longitudinal reinforcing bars typically at the top and bottom, with a development length extending four feet into the new concrete. The concrete interface of the existing footing is specified to be roughened to a quarter-inch amplitude within a four-inch radius of each new dowel. A slab on grade bears above the footing assembly.
