All reinforcement bends must be made cold, and number fourteen and eighteen bars require bend testing and laboratory approval prior to bending. Standard ninety degree hooks for number three through number eight bars use a diameter D1 with a twelve bar diameter extension and a three inch minimum. Standard one hundred eighty degree hooks use a diameter D1 with a four bar diameter extension and a two and a half inch minimum. Stirrup and tie ninety degree hooks for number three through number five bars use a diameter D2 with a six bar diameter extension and a three inch minimum, while number six through number eight bars use a twelve bar diameter extension. Stirrup and tie one hundred eighty degree hooks use a diameter D2 with a four bar diameter extension and a two and a half inch minimum. Stirrup and tie one hundred thirty-five degree hooks use a diameter D2 with a six bar diameter extension and a three inch minimum. Maximum offset bends maintain a six-to-one slope ratio.
