A diagonal brace runs parallel to a steel beam beneath a metal deck and is anchored at each end with a six-inch by three-eighths-inch by six-inch gusset plate. One-inch spacer plates are inserted per note four where indicated. Three-sixteenth-inch fillet welds secure the gusset plates to the structural members typically on three sides. The diagonal brace size is determined per schedule and its spacing per plans, while open web steel joists appear beyond in adjacent framing.
