An HSS column connects to a steel base plate anchored into a concrete support. Anchor bolts with AISC standard plate washers secure the base plate at a typical distance of two bolt diameters from the edges. A five-sixteenths inch fillet weld joins the hollow structural section column to the base plate. A block out is provided around the column as referenced in detail eleven on sheet S1.31, while base plate and anchor bolt sizes follow the column schedule.
