A concrete slab construction joint features a formed keyway with a depth equal to half the slab thickness typical, or an intentionally roughened surface at the contractor's option. All slab reinforcement extends continuously through the joint. Spacing dimensions include a six-inch minimum dimension and a thirty-inch maximum dimension, with a one and one-half inch offset from the edge of the slab.
