An HSS beam connects to an HSS column using top and bottom L4x4x1/2 angles welded to the beam and secured with three-quarter-inch diameter by one-and-three-quarter-inch threaded studs complete with nuts and washers. At the roof level, the column is capped with a one-half-inch thick cap plate positioned four inches off the column centerline. Fillet welds of size t are indicated at typical locations along the angle connections. The assembly provides a standard simple connection detail for hollow structural section framing.
