This assembly features a bar joist seat supported by a 5-inch by 3-inch by 1/4-inch by 1-foot long bearing angle. The angle is centered on the bar joist and shimmed level within a 1-foot wide bearing pocket formed at the joint between two precast concrete panels. Each panel contains a type A53-12 embed plate to support the bearing angle. The bearing angle is welded to only one panel embed plate using a 1/4-inch fillet weld on one side only to allow for thermal movement. The 3/4-inch panel joint is maintained between the concrete elements.
