A structural steel column bears on a base plate secured with anchor bolts anchored into a concrete footing. The column and footing centerlines coincide unless otherwise noted on drawings. Vertical reinforcing bars are placed at each corner of the encasement, supplemented by tie bars spaced at twelve inches on center. The concrete encasement maintains a minimum six-inch dimension from the column face.
