This assembly connects HSS (hollow structural section) bracing members to a central HSS column using three-eighths-inch thick gusset plates. The bracing is welded to the gusset plates with five-sixteenths-inch fillet welds at ten inches typical and one-quarter-inch fillet welds at seven inches typical. Wide flange beams are connected to the column through three-eighths-inch plates using three three-quarter-inch diameter A325N bolts per side. If the connection occurs at the column end, the column must be capped with a three-eighths-inch plate secured by a one-quarter-inch fillet weld all around. At similar locations, bracing should be installed from one side only as indicated on the plans.
