This detail applies exclusively to mild reinforced concrete slabs featuring a vertical step. Top and bottom primary reinforcing bars are sized per plan and extend continuously through the transition zone with specified lap lengths. Additional number four reinforcing bars are placed at eighteen inches on center top and bottom across the sloped step region. The step depth "X" has a maximum limit of one foot zero inches, and the transition dimension equals six times "X" unless otherwise noted on plan. Minimum horizontal extension lengths of one foot six inches are required for bar laps on both sides of the step.
