This connection details structural steel framing where steel beams frame into a steel column on both sides. Fifty ksi continuity plates are aligned with each beam flange on both sides of the column web and welded to the column flange with typical five-sixteenths inch fillet welds. The plates are specified to be no thinner than the adjacent beam flange. Complete joint penetration groove welds join the beam flanges to the column. The concrete slab is omitted for clarity.
