A concentrated load between three hundred and five hundred pounds applied to a steel joist requires reinforcement when dimension X exceeds six inches by extending a WT4x5 shape to the next adjacent joist panel point. Reinforcement is not required where the bottom chord has been designed for the concentrated load per the structural drawings and joist manufacturer notes.
