A steel roof beam frames into the web of a steel column using a bolted shear connection with a half-inch cap plate at the column top. A stiffener plate is welded inside the steel column web aligned with the beam flanges. A one-eighth-inch continuous bent plate runs between joists beneath the steel deck, secured with three-sixteenths typical welds.
