A floor framing connection at a shade structure comprises a concrete slab over a metal floor deck supported by structural steel members. An HSS 5x5x1/4 hollow structural section acts as a framing member, connected with 3/8-inch stiffener plates and welded with 1/4-inch fillets on three sides and a 5/16-inch fillet weld. A 6-inch diagonal brace is positioned at a 45-degree angle spaced at 48 inches on center. The exterior assembly incorporates 6-inch 18-gauge studs spaced at 16 inches on center typically at an EIFS exterior finish, with 1/2-inch diameter by 24-inch deformed bar anchors at 16 inches on center and stiff clips supporting a window system per architectural plans. All exposed steel is specified to be galvanized.
