A slip connection between a hollow structural section post and a beam sized per plan consists of two L8x4x1/2 angles measuring zero feet nine inches placed on each side of the hollow structural section, featuring one-and-a-half-inch vertical slotted holes unless noted otherwise. Two seven-eighth-inch ASTM F1554 Grade 36 threaded rods secure the assembly, tightened to finger tight with damaged threads to permit vertical movement. A one-inch minimum gap is maintained above the post, and quarter-inch typical fillet welds are applied as indicated.
