Two fire-rated concrete masonry unit control joint configurations are detailed for wall assemblies up to one-half inch maximum control joint width. The two-hour rated detail features joint backing, a center gasket, and exterior caulking on both faces of the masonry units. The four-hour rated detail incorporates joint backing, a ceramic fiber blanket packed within the joint core, and caulking applied to both exterior surfaces.
