Spacing criteria for remote and adjacent penetrations establish when trim reinforcement is required in structural concrete or masonry. Remote penetrations spaced greater than one and a half times the diameter apart do not require trim reinforcement. Adjacent penetrations within maximum dimensions of eight inches by one foot six inches or three feet zero inches require a combined effective opening outline for trim reinforcement when clear spacing falls below two inches minimum.
