About this detail

A CoreBrace buckling-restrained brace connection frames into a structural steel column and steel beam intersection. Gusset plates connect the braces to the column and beam flanges, with stiffener plates provided on the near side and far side as required by the manufacturer. The work point is located at one-half the nominal beam depth below the top of the beam. Weld sizes and lengths for the gusset connections to the beam and column are specified by variable callouts corresponding to the project schedule. At V and chevron configurations, gusset welds to the column are omitted while gusset welds to the beam are required at each side of the stiffener.
