A buckling-restrained brace connects to a structural steel beam via a five-eighth-inch gusset plate welded to the underside of the beam flange with five-sixteenth-inch fillet welds. Five-sixteenth-inch stiffener plates are welded on each side and each face of the beam web at the brace intersection. The brace assembly attaches to the gusset plate using bolted connections per the manufacturer's specifications. A joist bears on the top flange of the beam per plan.
