An HSS3x3x1/4 hollow structural section post aligns with the connected structural steel beam and extends up to the top of the parapet per architectural requirements. A one-quarter inch cap plate is fillet welded to the top of the HSS post. Three-eighths inch full-depth stiffener plates are provided on each side of the beam web, connected with three-sixteenths inch fillet welds on three sides typically. A bidder-designed parapet wall connects to the HSS post by others.
