An HSS8x8 post bears on a base plate detailed per standard connection requirements and note one. A three-eighths inch plate measuring one and three-quarters by six and one-half inches, four feet zero inches long, connects to each side of the web with typical three-eighths inch fillet welds. A complete joint penetration weld secures the structural components, complemented by a type C1 connection.
