An angle brace connects to a supporting steel beam and an overhead angle anchored through a low metal deck flute with welded headed studs. The angle brace consists of an L6x6x1/2 section spanning between gusset plates, secured at each end with two three-quarter-inch diameter bolts. Gusset plates measuring 3/8 inch by 8 inches by 6 inches are fillet-welded to the web and flange of the supporting steel beam with typical quarter-inch welds. Six number 5 reinforcing bars centered on the angle brace provide additional reinforcement within the concrete over metal deck slab. A welded connection alternative is permitted at the contractor's option in lieu of the bolted connection.
