A quarter-inch bent plate connects to the flange of a wide-flange column to support the metal deck edge, which maintains a two-inch maximum clearance. A fourteen-gauge closure angle is positioned at the end of the deck, while optional support angles reinforce the framing condition where required. A typical one-quarter-inch fillet weld secures each end of the beam or girder framing into the column web or flange. Section A-A details a typical puddle weld securing the formed edge of the metal deck to the supporting angle with a four-inch vertical dimension and a three-inch maximum offset from the structural member.
