An axonometric detail of the bottom track connection for cold-formed steel framing supported by concrete, structural steel, or another cold-formed steel member. The bottom track is fastened to concrete or structural steel using two staggered rows of zero-point-one-four-five-inch diameter by three-quarter-inch powder-actuated fasteners at twenty-four inches on center, or secured to cold-formed framing with two staggered rows of number-ten screws at twelve inches on center. An alternate steel connection utilizes a one-quarter-inch by three-inch square plate with a three-quarter-inch diameter ASTM A307 threaded rod welded to a steel beam at twenty-four inches on center. Each stud is fastened with one number-ten screw on each side to both flanges of the bottom track and set tight to the web, with field welding required where gaps exceed one-eighth inch. The thickness of the bottom track must match the stud thickness up to a maximum of fifty-four mil, maintaining a one-and-a-half-inch minimum clearance and aligning stud punches.
