Cross bridging is installed between adjacent steel joists to provide lateral stability and prevent web buckling. The diagonal bridging members are provided by the joist supplier and connected to the steel joists. A metal roof deck bears continuously across the top chords of the steel joists. Welds of three-sixteenths inch size secure the bridging components in place.
