A continuous L4x4x3/8 angle is welded to the side of a hollow structural section beam with a 1/4 inch fillet weld at 4 inches on center, staggered 12 inches. This angle serves as a shelf to support the concrete slab on metal deck. The top of the steel beam is flush with the top of the concrete slab. The specific beam size and slab thickness are referenced to the structural plan.
