Reinforcement around a large rectangular slab opening consists of number four bars placed at twelve inches on center at the top all around unless noted otherwise. Two number six bars run top and bottom typically all around the opening perimeter. Single diagonal number four bars measuring four feet long are placed top and bottom typically at all four corners. Typical dimensions of three feet and two feet establish standard edge clearances and spacing offsets.
