The roof joist is supported by a wide-flange beam, with the joist bearing seat secured by a three-sixteenths inch fillet weld. A continuous one-quarter inch bent plate or a one-quarter inch angle is provided at the contractor's option to support the roof deck, which is sized and attached per the roof deck schedule. A stiffener plate is provided by the joist manufacturer as required to resist rollover forces, with specific requirements detailed in the structural notes. The connection includes a field weld of one-quarter inch by two inches at the loose-head and one-eighth inch by two inches at the K-series joist seat. A maximum twelve-inch clearance is maintained as indicated by architectural drawings.
