A hollow structural section post connects to a steel embed plate measuring 1/2 inch by 9 inches by 0 feet 9 inches with four 3/4 inch by 2 1/4 inch headed studs. At embeds near the edge of the slab, the embed length reduces to 0 feet 7 1/2 inches for base building conditions. The embed plate welds to the hollow structural section post using a 1/4 inch fillet weld. The assembly bears on a structural steel beam sized per plan beneath a concrete slab on metal deck.
