This assembly consists of a structural steel angle seat welded to a hollow structural section column to support beams. The seat utilizes an L6 x 6 x 3/4 inch angle, ten inches long, with the vertical leg coped as required for welding to the column. A one-half inch thick stiffener plate is welded beneath the horizontal leg of the angle. The assembly is secured to the column with three-eighths inch fillet welds. For HSS 8x8 through HSS 12x12 columns, the seat includes a three-quarter inch by four and one-half inch plate, with a minimum length of six inches, attached with one-quarter inch fillet welds. The HSS column size is determined per the structural plans.
