The grade beam framing connects to a concrete pedestal or footing with designated top and bottom reinforcing bars. The first tie is positioned a maximum of two inches from the edge of the pedestal or footing. Development length LD is maintained for the reinforcing bars extending into the support. At the contractor option, the grade beam reinforcement and footing reinforcement may be lapped together.
