A wide flange beam or channel connects to a hollow structural section column using a bolted shear tab and a top cap plate. The shear tab is welded to the hollow structural section column with a one-quarter inch fillet weld and bolted to the beam web with a number and size of bolts sized per plan. A cap plate sits at the top of the hollow structural section column, secured with welds indicated on the drawing.
