A six-inch nominal wood nailer matches the width of the steel beam flange and is secured with seven-eighths inch diameter welded threaded rods at sixteen inches on center staggered across the beam. The rods are countersunk with a three-quarter inch maximum depth. One rod is placed a maximum of nine inches from each end of the nailer and from each splice. Two rows of nailing are specified at beam spacing, requiring four lines where staggered and six lines where three lines of nailing are required, maintaining a two and one-half inch minimum typical spacing. A partial plan view shows the staggered layout of the threaded rods along the nailer length.
