A structural steel bearing connection details a steel beam supported by a steel column with a steel cap plate. A two-and-a-half-inch deep joist bearing end is anchored with two half-inch diameter erection bolts atop the steel beam. Beam web stiffener plates are welded to each side of the beam web, and a stabilizer plate is integrated into the column connection. Fillet welds of quarter-inch and three-sixteenth-inch sizes secure the plates to the structural members.
