A reinforced concrete curb is cast directly onto a concrete slab on steel deck with a roughened construction joint surface. The curb includes one continuous number 5 longitudinal bar at the top, a number 4 longitudinal bar spaced at 10 inches, and alternating hooked dowels extending into the deck below. Transverse stirrups or ties are spaced at 9 inches on center when the curb depth exceeds 10 inches, and at 12 inches on center when the depth is 10 inches or less. A one-inch concrete clearance is maintained at the base, and the overall curb height has a maximum limit of two feet six inches.
