An HSS beam with a one-quarter-inch thick cap plate frames into an HSS post utilizing top and bottom L4x4x3/8 structural angles sized per note one to match the width of the receiving post face width. A maximum one-half-inch gap is maintained between the beam end and the post face. One-quarter-inch fillet welds secure the connection at each leg and are applied similarly at double-sided conditions.
