An HSS5x5 hollow structural section beam frames into an HSS6x6 hollow structural section post, centered on the post. A five-inch by five-inch by three-eighths-inch angle that is six inches long connects the beam to the post. A one-quarter-inch end plate is welded to the beam on both sides with three-inch fillet welds. The angle is secured to the HSS post with one-quarter-inch top and bottom fillet welds. The HSS post is finished with a three-eighths-inch cap plate at the top of steel.
