An open web steel girder and steel beam bear at a steel column utilizing a steel cap plate, a three-quarter-inch bearing plate, and a WT6x25 by eighteen-inch long steel column stabilizer plate. The structural assembly includes two three-quarter-inch diameter erection bolts and open web steel joists supporting steel deck. Fillet welds of one-quarter-inch and three-sixteenths-inch sizes are applied typically across the connection plates. A one-eighth-inch continuous bent plate is installed between joists, and bottom chords are left unwelded to the stabilizer plates unless noted otherwise. Girder bottom chord bracing is provided by the joist or girder supplier typically at the joist nearest mid-span of the girder and at the first joist on each side of the column.
