This structural steel detail shows a moment connection utilizing ASTM A572 Grade 50 top and bottom flange plates, A572 Grade 50 doubler plates, and continuity plates matching the flange plate thickness. The connection is made using 1-1/4 inch diameter A490X bolts, with the first row fully pretensioned in standard holes and the second row in long-slotted holes snug-tight with standard washers. A step at the column flange is accommodated in Detail B. Fillet welds are specified typically throughout the plate assembly. The connection must comply with the W18 type C configuration noted on sheet 2/S5.02.
