A cold-formed steel stud is installed within a slip track below a profiled metal deck, leaving a clearance gap to accommodate vertical deflection. Screws connect the track to match channel requirements, and a transfer plate is added to match the stud gauge if required. Gypsum drywall and interior finishes are explicitly left unattached to the slip track, with the first screw located one inch below the track to allow independent movement.
