A concrete grade beam connects to a foundation pedestal or footing with the first tie positioned a maximum of two inches from the edge of the pedestal. The grade beam reinforcement maintains a six-inch top clearance and a three-inch bottom clearance. At the contractor's option, the grade beam reinforcement and footing reinforcement may be lapped together over development length LD. The pedestal or footing contains both top and bottom reinforcement as sized per the foundation plan.
