A steel beam extension connects to existing construction using a bolted shear tab and top and bottom reinforcing plates. The connection features a shear tab welded to the web with multiple bolts securing the beam web. Reinforcing plates are welded to the top and bottom flanges. A form saver is incorporated at the slab edge along the division between existing and new construction. Demolition and temporary conditions are excluded for clarity.
