A davit socket pedestal is welded directly to the top flange of a structural steel beam sized per plan. Three-eighths-inch thick stiffener plates are welded to each side of the beam web and flanges with quarter-inch fillet welds. Angle braces measuring 6x6x3/8 typical unon tie the socket assembly back to adjacent framing. A half-inch by 4-inch plan plate spans the beam width plus one inch, attached to the flanges with quarter-inch fillet welds left unwelded half an inch from the plate edge.
